Azagba-Ogwashi, Delta State

Azagba-Ogwashi is a small town in the Aniocha South area of Delta State, Nigeria. It is part of Ogwashi Ukwu but a little far from the main Ogwashi Ukwu town. People in Azagba Ogwashi are engaged in various things. While some are engaged in the sales of food, and products, others are engaged in services like transport, repair, laundry, hairdressing, and more.

INFRASTRUCTURE IN AZAGBA-OGWASHI

Infrastructure, services, and businesses in Azagba-Ogwashi are minimal. The town has just one fueling station known as Judesco Oil & Gas, and it’s located at the entrance of the town. No bank is located here which means people have relied on POS to get cash. For banking services, people usually go to Asaba since all major
Nigerian banks have branches there. The transport fare to go to Asaba from Azagba-Ogwashi is between 200 and 300 nairas.

Ogwashi does not have a stadium but just like many parts of Nigeria, there are schools with open fields where people go to engage in sporting activities.

Electricity In Azagba-Ogwashi

Electricity in Azagba-Ogwashi is a difficult issue. For a long time, the town has been in darkness because the transformer developed some fault. Some say the transformer is under constant threat of theft and that important components of the transformer are often stolen, thereby leaving the transformer useless. In December 2022, one resident of the town revealed that the town had not received electricity for more than 10 months.

This lack of electricity has made people dependent on generators. Almost every house in this town now has a generator. Some houses where several people live have more than one generator and when they are on, the environment becomes very noisy. The people, however, are used to it.

Water In Azagba-Ogwashi

Access to water in Azagba-Ogwashi can be difficult. Most houses have boreholes but regular pumping means that people have to spend more on fuel and generator servicing. The high elevation of the land also means boreholes have to be dug very deep into the ground to get clean water. Whether this is not possible for most
boreholes, no one knows, but what is known is that the water gets dirty sometimes. Sometimes, people have to bathe with muddy water as they have no alternative to clean water. People who do not even have boreholes in their houses, go to nearby water stations or other people’s houses to get water.

Azagba-Ogwashi is a small town so there are not many hotels here. The most popular hotel in this town is Nature Groove Resort and Hotel which is located beside the police station.

Exciting Things To Do In Azagba-Ogwshi

There are no fun facilities or places to do in Azagba-Ogwashi but there are many ways one can have fun in this town. For starters, there are many bars and hangout spots one can visit to grab a drink and nighttime is usually the best time to visit these bars. The town has a waterfall called Mbiriba Waterfall which is a great place to hang out, wash clothes, and take a shower.

Junction Market In Azagba-Ogwashi

Junction market is a market in Azagba-Ogwashi that’s held every four days. This market serves people in Azagba and other neighboring towns. A lot of things can be found here from food products to wear, shoes, and electronics. The market is located along the express road and a fuel station known as No-Wayo is directly opposite the market.

Junction market in Azagba-Ogwashi does not open every day but its opening dates are frequent. It is held every four days from its previous opening date. On Saturday, December 10, 2022, the market was open which means the next opening date of the market was exactly four days from this date.
